I recently received some products from the guys at Lexis agency, these products are from luxury men’s grooming brand The Refinery. The Refinery is a men’s spa in London. They have their own range of products based on what they use in their spa’s. I got to try out the revitalising moisturiser, the face scrub and the face mask. I chose the first two products because I use similar products regularly and I wanted to compare them to others I have used. The face mask I chose because I have never used one and I wanted to see what it was like.
The overall look of the products is impressive. The refinery uses simple packaging for their products, meaning that they want to let their product do the talking instead of using flashy logos etc. The cheapest product is priced at £18 and the most expensive one is £43. Now let’s get to the products I used.
I was immediately impressed with this product when I first used it. It was quick drying, non-greasy, and my skin felt firmer with every use. I found that I didn’t need to use a lot of the product either. It also had a great smell, which is always a major plus with any product. I also found it compact and fits seamlessly into any wash bag. Its 50ml size means it can be brought everywhere. I would give this product a 10/10 as it’s simple to use and because of the benefits it gives.
Again this is another product I found impressive. It is easy to use, smells good and really does soften the hair pre-shave. One flaw I did have was that I found the product didn’t lather that easily. With most face scrubs, I find that the product lathers easily on my face after I wet it. This product has to be lathered in your hand, before applying it to your face. I would give this product 8.5/10 for that reason.
I won’t lie I had issues with using this product at the start. I was expecting my face to be covered in a charcoal-like mask, but I was delighted to see that it was a light mask covering my skin. Again it smells good and is easy to use which is always a positive. I found after use that my skin, especially around my forehead felt tight. This sensation went away by using the moisturiser, which is recommended after using the face mask. Tightness of the skin is something I don’t like in a product and this is the only flaw I can find with this product. Overall I would give this a 9/10.
