Christmas Gift Guide- Men’s Edit

For once, I am somewhat organized this year when it comes to my Christmas shopping, but for one reason or another, I always seem to leave one or two things to the last minute. I am going to share some great gift ideas for the men in your life if you’re heading in for some last minute shopping. A lot of these are items that I have either bought or used myself and that I highly recommend.

Johnny’s Chop Shop Grooming Range

I came across these products during the summer in my local boots, The packaging intrigued me and the retro feel made me want to try it out. I have to say that I was really impressed with it. I have tried out more products from the range since then and there is something for everyone. Products include shaving foam, dry shampoo, hair pomade, beard oil etc. Everything you need to bring a touch of 50’s cool to your look. The Johnny’s Chop Shop range is available from Boots nationwide and online and independent pharmacies around Ireland with prices starting from €6.99. My advice would be to buy a number of the products and make a little hamper just to make it stand out a bit more.

Mr. Jenks Pocket Squares

I won’t lie I am a big fan of this brand, the main reasons being that firstly, the designs on their pocket squares really stand out. They stock some fabulous designs that would make any suit stand out. This is perfect for an outfit for a day at the races, party season or just because you want to spruce up your blazer for a night out with a special someone. The quality is second to none and they are really affordable at €29.99. I own 3 of them myself and they have received loads of compliments when I have worn them. Two of my personal favorites are these:

The reason I love these two is because the Ireland in bloom one on the left is the perfect gift for someone who loves their country and is ideal for someone returning home from abroad for christmas. The pink diamond one on the right I am quite fond of because I featured it as part of a get the look feature I recently did for Xposé Ultimate Weddings. Mr. Jenks pocket squares are available at www.mrjenks.com and selected menwear stores across Ireland and the U.K. If you’re ordering online make sure to purchase by midnight on the 20th to ensure your pocket square arrives on time.

Louis Copeland & Son Shirts

Now, this is slightly more expensive for a last minute present, but if your man likes his style, then he is going to love this present. I bought my first Louis Copeland shirt in the summer and I loved it so much that I bought myself a second one as an early christmas present! Again you are paying for quality, but the one thing I love about it is the fit. It is extremely comfortable and I can guarantee if you’re comfortable in your clothes it is going make you feel good and look good. These shirts are available in all six Louis Copeland stores and online at www.louiscopeland.com

I know that was short and sweet, but I feel these little gifts are perfect for those in a rush, but don’t want to give a rubbish present. I hope this guide has been of help to you and that you find the ideal gift for your loved ones.

The Search for a Suit

Today’s post is one that has been a long time coming but, with my wedding just under four months away, I thought this was the perfect time to write it. Like every wedding, a lot of focus is given to the Bride. Rightly so I think, but I also find little thought is cast to the man she is marrying. He is expected to just put on a suit and scrub up for the big day. (more…)

TM Lewin Fit for Friday

I was asked recently by the guys at TM Lewin to style a look that will take you from the office to having drinks with your work mates that evening, hence the name Fit for Friday! I know a lot of workplaces tend to have a casual Friday dress code and this does tend to cause a lot of problems because a lot of people do tend to take the word casual to the extreme! i.e jeans and trainers. The pieces I have put together will have you gents looking smart for work, but also good enough for any dress code for any pub that you and your workmates visit on a Friday after work. All of the pieces in this post not only work well together but are staples in any stylish man’s wardrobe. First up is the Harrison Herringbone Jacket in navy/blue is a really versatile piece. This would look really smart at work or any occasion that requires a smart dress code. At £149/€195, it is quite affordable and made of fine materials, therefore, should last you for a really long time.

If you work in a stuffy office, you are not going to be wearing your blazer or
suit all day, so underneath I have added the Burnham Navy Cardigan to maintain that smart look throughout the day. This is again very affordable at £55/€69 and the quality is second to none. It is made of merino wool so it light and breathable, which is perfect for a warm office and pub.

Staying away from the classic white shirt, I thought this blue gingham shirt in slim fit is a great alternative and really fits in with the blue theme for the top half of this outfit. At £39.95/€52, it is a bargain as it comes from Jermyn Street, the home of shirt making and it is also non-iron which is a bonus.

Next up, we have a pair of Cassidy camel chinos, which go really well with the other colours in this outfit and are a classic menswear item. They are also a steal at £44.95/€59, but can be bought for less if you buy them from one of the many deals on the TM Lewin website.

Finally, we come to the shoes. Now they say shoes make or break an outfit, well these Farthing tan brogues add a nice finishing touch. At £89/ €134 they are slightly more expensive than their competitors, but shoes are something worth investing in.
