Sorry for the lack of posts recently but work has been hectic lately!! I have not been asked to write this post by H&M, I just have a big interest in the collection especially when it involves one of my favourite style icons. Last Thursday March 5th David Beckham released his new bodywear collection for H&M, but he was also asked to pick his favourite items from the their Modern Essentials collection. Mr Beckham has always been able to pick his spot when shooting at goal, but he definitely hit the back of the net with his picks with this collection. I will be concentrating on his picks for the Modern Essentials collection even though his bodywear collection is always top-notch and I can vouch for that having bought many pieces from the previous collections.
The collection features many staples that would be found in any stylish man’s wardrobe. Items such as a white shirt, polo shirts, sweatshirts and denim jackets are key items in the collection. The price range for the collection ranges from €7.99 to €59.99 which makes it very affordable and just like his bodywear and fragrance lines affordability has always been a big selling point with David Beckham.
Having seen the collection in the flesh when out shopping at the weekend, I found the products to be of excellent quality and are all really well made considering their price points. I also found that there is something for everyone in this collection regardless of whether you dress conservatively or you are a bit out there with your own style.
Here are my favourite pieces from the collection.
Light pink chinos €24.99
Navy Polo Shirt €24.99
White Denim Jacket €39.99
White Leather Sneakers €49.99
Blue Sweatshirt €19.99
Grey Desert Boots price not available on website
White Shirt €19.99
Check Shirt €24.99
Check Trousers €29.99
Unfortunately for Irish customers there is no online shop just yet so there are no links provided. But depending on where you live in the world these items could be available online so check them out on http://www.hm.com/ie/modern-essentials-beckham.
I recently posted this picture of Lewis Hamilton at an IWC launch recently.
I thought it was a great smart casual look. The tan shawl jumper is a real trans seasonal piece and the colour is an all year round wardrobe staple. Here are some pieces that will help you achieve this look in two different ways. I based the outfit around the Jumper as it was the stand out piece for me in the outfit. In look 1 I copied what Lewis wore and teamed it with a white shirt, I added a pair of slim fit dark wash jeans and Chelsea boots from RIver Island to complete the look. For look 2 I changed it to a cardigan and added a navy shirt and chinos with a pair of chocolate brown desert boots to make it more casual.
This will be the first of many posts featuring people who I consider style icons and who have an influence on my style and how I dress. First up is David Beckham, he was the first major influence for me to make me interested in fashion and being a big sports fan it was an easy person to start with. While he is now a style icon of his own accord nowadays you have to give credit to his wife Victoria who set him on the right path to achieve this. While he has had a few fashion mishaps and lets be honest who hasn’t, he more often than not looks flawless in both casual and formal attire. He is also not the only designer in the Beckham household having brought out his own line of bodywear and swimwear with H&M and as expected was and still is highly successful to this day. He has also recently collaborated with Belstaff to bring out a collection of biker jackets. Here is a link to this collection http://www.belstaff.com/men/beckham-for-belstaff/
Here are a few of David’s finer fashion moments
I am going to pick two of these looks and I am going to show you where you can pick up some of Mr Beckham’s style at an affordable price and hopefully look just as good as he does.
First outfit is a casual one consisting of the check shirt, white tshirt, jeans and boots.
