Christmas Gift Guide Part 2

Hi Guys,

I told you I would return with part 2 of my Christmas gift guide. This gift guide is my menswear edition to help you pick up something stylish for  the special men in your life. I am going to pick some classic pieces that will never go out of style ensuring that present that you give him will last through the ages. There is nothing worse than giving or receiving a gift that has a short shelf-life.

First up is some fantastic coats! Given our climate here in Ireland a good winter coat is a must-have! I know I wouldn’t mind receiving one of these, as a good winter coat can be quite expensive, but a good one will last you a lifetime provided you buy one in a classic style. Luckily the high st have a great selection available at some wallet-friendly prices. Some of my favourites come from H&M, River Island and Burton.

River Island:

A Blazer in Navy or Grey is a great gift, because they are extremely versatile and can be worn with almost anything. They can smarten up a casual outfit or add that touch of class to a smart outfit. These two from H&M and NEXT are just the thing.

Next up we have some great knitwear. I have always had a preference for NEXT for knitwear, because I find that they offer the widest range at a pocket-friendly price! They stock cardigans, roll neck, crew neck and v-neck jumpers. Prices range from €30-35 and come in a wide range of colours so there is something to suit everyone. If you want to spend that extra bit of money you can buy similar to what I mentioned only in lambswool. These prices range from €44-52 for this range.

If you want some high quality knitwear at a high st price then head down to your local TK Maxx where  you can find pieces from Nigel Hall and Hardy Amies from prices at low as €26.99

Now we move on to shirts. A good shirt is essential in any mans wardrobe regardless of his age. There are some great pieces available at TK Maxx from designers such as Paul Costelloe, Hardy Amies, Charles Thyritt and Baumler, all for really reasonable prices. Just make sure you know their neck size and their preferred fit so a bit of snooping may be required.

For casual shirts there is a great selection available on the high street, here are some of my personal faves.

Next up I chose some quality denim. I find that dark wash denim is a great gift because it can be worn in both casual and smart outfits. Again, buying good denim will last through the ages as long as its looked after. I find that River Island, H&M and ASOS offer a great range of denim in a wide range of styles at a price to suit everyone. Here are my top pieces to give as gifts.

Now finally to some fancy footwear.  Well, unfortunately us men used to have a reputation of ruining some fantastic outfits with bad or scruffy pairs of shoes. Thankfully we are all upping our game. The selection available nowadays and with specialist shoe stores like Office and Aldo, there is no excuse to pick up a good pair for the man in your life. A good pair of brogues is the perfect gift to add to their collection to take their shoe game up a level.

I hope this gift guide is of help. Remember if you are shopping online to check when the final delivery dates are to ensure your gift arrives on time. There are only 8 shopping days left so get cracking!
