Gift Guide for Men

Finding it hard to buy something for the men in your life? Well, even I find it difficult to do so sometimes, so I am going to provide you with some ideas that will hopefully, set you on your way to finding the perfect gift for your loved one this Christmas with everything from clothes to fragrances, accessories and much more there is something for everyone in there.First up let’s go for fragrances. I’ve tried a number of different fragrances during the year, but the one that really stands out is the Replica fragrance by Maison Margiela. These are designed to evoke memories of your favourite experiences. The one I have is “at the barbers” and it definitely gives a scent of the fresh cut and shave which is one I love. They come in a number of different scents. I have been informed other popular scents from this range are Jazz Club and By the fire side. They are available in all Brown Thomas stores and online. You can also get them personalised just like the one below in the Marvel Room in Brown Thomas. This range retails at €105.

Other notable fragrances that I would recommend are Armani Code Colonia and Kenneth Cole Black Gold.

Accessories, while most men won’t always think of them, can play a huge part in making an outfit stand out for the right reasons. Whether it’s the right tie, a pocket square to make your blazer pop or that watch to add the classic finishing touch, you can never go wrong gifting an item like this. As most of you know my go-to Men’s accessory brand is Mr. Jenks. A start up company that was launched just over 2 years ago has grown so much in that space of time. As well as their wide range of pocket squares, they have recently launched a range of ties. The ties range from €75-90, while the pocket squares are €30.

Another pocket square brand I have recently discovered is Mens Finest which are based in Liverpool. Again they have a wide range of pocket squares and bow ties which range at £49.99, but sign up to their mailing list as there is usually some fantastic offers from which you could score a nice bargain.

When looking for a watch I look no further than Sean stocks a range called Watch and Wallets which have a range very similar to the Daniel Wellington range, but at a more affordable price point and are as good in style and quality aspects. The straps are also easy to change so you can have a number of different styles to choose from. Prices start at €19 up to €99.

Men’s Grooming.

With the return to fashion of cut throat and double edge razors we return to manly stuff as they have a great selection at these items for a very reasonable price. I’ve been using the double edge razor for the best part of a year and I have found a huge difference in both the quality and the money I have saved since as the blades are much cheaper to buy than those for a Gillette razor. Sets start at €25.99 but I recommend spending a little bit more than the basic set. If you contact Seán directly through the site he will guide you in the right direction.

Next up is the electric razor. Ever trim your beard, but your other half has given out to you for the hairs left in the sink? Then the Remington vacuum razor is the ideal present to receive as it has a built in vacuum that sucks up the hairs as you trim them. It is priced at € and if you want to find out more about it you can read my review here.

Does your other half have a favourite grooming brand? Why not make up a hamper of their favourite or new products from that brand. I did this for my brother last year and filled a hamper full of his favourite Johnnys chop shop products, but I also included a few new ones he hadn’t tried out and he loved it. If your other half is bearded the L’Oréal barber club has launched a few products aimed at bearded men and as far as I know are on offer in all Sam Macauley chemists nationwide.

Now for clothing. This can be a mine field sometimes, but I have handpicked a few items which I think would go well in any guys wardrobe. First up Paul Galvins latest collection with Dunnes Stores has some excellent knitwear options this fine gauge knit comes in both green or burgundy and for €30 you can’t go wrong.

Littlewoods Ireland have a great navy wool blend blazer which is an ideal piece for any guys wardrobe as it goes with pretty much everything and can be dressed up or down such is it’s versatility. At €85 it’s a bargain, but I have seen it go down in price so keep an eye out and you could land yourself a nice bargain.

Willing to splash the cash a bit on a shirt but don’t know what one to get? Why not let him design his own? Louis Copeland have the made to measure shirt gift voucher which allows the man in your life design a shirt to his taste and it will fit like a glove. It is priced at €250, but he will get value knowing that he designed it and that his work of art is hanging in his wardrobe.

There you have it guys and girls, that is my gift guide to Christmas 2017 for the men in your life. I hope this is of help to you and if you need any more help feel free to contact me on any of my social media channels.
